Banksy Goes To Springfield

When I found out that English graffiti artist Banksy was doing the pre title sequence to Sunday's Simpsons episode I thought it was going to be a typically lame celebrity cameo or something. It wasn't.

Hmmm I thought this vid would be safe because I cut and paste it from Banksy's youtube channel. However after I went to bed Fox initiated a breach of copyright claim. The best I can do for now is a kid who taped it off his TV here.

Wednesday update - the YouTube seems to be working again. Does that mean Fox's copyright claim failed?

That's unsettling in a very sepulchral sort of way. It's definitely not what I would have expected from an opening of a Simpson's episode.

Nice. I wouldn't have seen that. Doesn't it seem like suddenly criticizing U.S./ China relations is cool again?

Not sure where everyone's been the last twenty years, but better late than never.

Seana,

For some reason cartoons have always gotten away with stuff live action never would. When The Simpsons was really good it was saying things no live action show ever dared.

This isn't the first time The Simpsons have had a scene at their Korean animation studio. The first time the news was full of how offended the Korean company was to draw the scene but I haven't seen that this time.

Oh, Korea. I guess they are an easier target than China.

I saw this piece on Slate about Norway and the Peace Prize, which I guess is why I was thinking China. Oh, that we could all be Norwegians. At least in spirit.

If you cant see the video its because Fox has initiated a breach of copyright claim on YouTube. I'm surprised because I got this from Banksy's own YouTube channel.

However I've posted a poorer quality link.

It reminded me of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

Norway's so bad ass they wont even join the European Union. They're rich, healthy, happy and they all speak English.

Well among other things I thought this was actually pretty funny. Who knew that Banksy has a good sense of humor?

another interesting twist in the Liverpool story here:

From what I've seen the Liverpool fans just don't want another American owner, but I have to admit, I'd rather have the guy who brought a World Series to Boston.

Maybe Liverpool fans don't realize what an accomplishment that was.

I just hope this turmoil ends soon. If Liverpool get relegated this year it will be a disaster. Its not like the 60's when a club could get sent down to the second division with no real harm done. The loss of TV revenue and an exodus of talent following a demotion could damage Liverpool for a decade.

Liverpool won't go down (just watch Blackpool and Wigan fall apart next year) but their season is effectively over in October and I can't remember that happening since the 1960s. What's happening at Anfield is an indication of a broader malaise - modern football is unsustainable.

I hope you're right. The loss of those 9 points wont help.

Why doesnt Paul McCartney buy them. He's got a few quid knocking around.

I still chuckle over the Simpsons episode where a man had a heart attack and Marge asked for someone to perform CPR. Homer started singing Bad moon Rising . . .

Funny and funny. I suppose thats the British equivalent of The Onion then is it?

I guess so. A few people have sent me Daily Mash links lately and most, the ones where I get the joke, are pretty good.
