I Hear The Sirens In The Street
I finally figured out how the "pages" feature on blogger works (or at least I think I have) so I've uploaded the first four chapters of I Hear The Sirens In The Street, here. This is still a work in progress so the book may change considerably before its appearance in January. (I've already completely cut the chapter which appears as the teaser at the end of The Cold Cold Ground.) But at the very least this will give you a pretty good idea where the novel is headed. You may want to read these chapters on the screen here or you could cut and paste them into a word file and print them out at your convenience, it's totally up to you, but I always prefer to read the paper version. I've included a permanent link to the Sirens "page" on the right hand side of the blog and I may add a few chapters here and there as the book progresses. Anyway, I hope you like it and comments are always appreciated.

Do it, people. You'll be glad you did. Although then you're going to be mad that you have to wait for more.
Adrian, this would be the moment to remind people that there is still time for most people to vote for their favorites over at Spinetingler before April ends. I know it's in the sidebar, but it bears repeating.

Oh yes. Everyone should vote before its too late.
Hey, thanks for posting that. I'll read it and perhaps link to it later today when I get the chance.
They run this year's Lilac Bloomsday Race May 6th, the day after Kentucky Derby Day, and I plan to review THE BLOOMSDAY DEAD, tongue-in-cheek, on my blog this week, with pics of posters and tee shirts--perhaps some eye candy as well.
I don't know why they run the race six weeks prior to the actual Bloomsday, but the race was originally founded by Don Kardong (my favorite running comic author) with James Joyce's ULYSSES in mind.
Looks like they still run a Bloomsday 5k on the beach in Dublin on June 16th.
Now, this is something to look forward to. Thanks.

I've printed it out for lagter with a glass of red, although I did wonder whether reading the first four chapters now might lessen the full enjoyment next January. But I gave in to temptation.
Just read the first three chapters over dinner. You've given me the subject of my next blog post, if that's all right.

Yeah its an odd time to have Bloomsday in may isn't it? I wont be in Dub this year but I may have a drink in a pub or two.

In January the whole thing could be completely different. In fact if the book industry keeps going the way its going, I expect that the January version will have a surprising amount of teen vampires in it.
Peter
Fine with me, mate.
Don't forget the superheroes and one or two wise-cracking adolescents.
Is it all right if I wait? My impatience is getting the better of me. As usual, I find your writing compelling, and totally engaging. The sense of immediacy is wonderful. But I want more...
Not that I'm a bit behind or anything, but it was superb. Got into a bit of a writing fortnight, shouldnt be knocked whilst its about
