Our First Few Months in Melbourne

A 42 second slide show of our first few months in Melbourne. The music is Badly Drawn Boy.

(There's a pretty good chance this will only be of interest to grandmothers, so dont come running to me if you want those 42 seconds back.)

Well, between you and Declan Burke with Liliput's World, I think it's conclusive that you gritty Irish crime writers are actually a bunch of old softies. No objection on my part, though. You have a lovely family. I hope the grandmothers are very happy.

I've always liked that song. It appears that you all have been taking advantage of the move.

Its true.

Softies to the core. Just dont start playing Danny Boy when we're in a pub.

its been nice here, it was hard going from autumn and winter to another surprisingly hard autumn and winter, but now spring is finally sprung and thats just dandy.

So it seems,yes.
Hope you already advised your offspring against playing with the perilous possums.

Aah, it's a grand life, is it not!

Their attitude towards possums is all wrong. They think they're "cute". Little do they know of the deep evil lurking in those "cute" possum visages.

yeah in between all the huffing, screaming, hissy fits and complaining - and thats just me before I get my morning coffee.

I thought "Oh Danny Boy" was just something that worked on us tourists in Ireland and in Irish-American pubs. Perhaps its just that you're in exile that you're not sick of it?

And what are you going to do when your kids go native on you? (Thoug it sounds like they already have.)

dont get me started on the Fields of Athenry

Well, though I expect I would recognize the tune, I didn't know it from the title, so I googled it. I see that it would be entirely too apt... How far are you from Botany Bay, anyway?

I saw a guy from Armagh wearing a Celtic jacket in a Philadelphia bookshop this week. He wasn't singing, though. And nice slide show. I could never make anything that good out of Lego.

Thanks for that. I wonder if lego making can become a career.

This must be a great time to be in Philly. Man I'd be SO excited. I read some dull reportage in the NYT that people are more interested in the NFL but I cant really believe that.

Now that the Cubs are gone, I say to the baseball gods: anyone but the Red Sox, please.
