Competition Update

There are less than 16 hours left if you want to win yourself a free book! See post below.
...
Also, please review me! Good review, bad review, indifferent review...doesnt matter. I have only one review on Audible.com, only two reviews on Amazon.com, only two on Amazon.co.uk and NONE on Good Reads. Twilight has thousands reviews! Twilight! Come on chaps, please review me. I'm only going to do one more post about Falling Glass and thats to announce the winner of the competition tomorrow. Normal blog service will resume after that, so do me this one favour mate.

Will do as soon as I'm done. Hopefully there's not a long wait for the next one.

It looks like The Undertones discography will be this week's playlist.

Controversially, I reckon Positive Touch is their best album

Adrian, you aren't shameless enough. You need to plug it again in a couple of weeks, when more people have finished it.

Thank you.

I like P T but then I like That Petrol Emotion too.

Nah, its boring plugging the book. I've done my part. If people like it they'll review it. The trouble is finding it...

but anyway I'm not going to spend the next 6 months droning on about it.

No, just every once in awhile. Like, every few weeks you could play this and see if some sort of Pavlovian reviews popped up.

Your publisher asked me if I'd received my copy. I was away so didn't know, and by the time I got home and could see I hadn't got it, she'd gone off on holiday...

Miss Witch

Yeah I know I asked Serpents Tail to send out some books to a few select bloggers. It looks like that they didn't send out any of them. It seems a very foolish economy to me. You couldnt possibly remind me them could you? Although whether they will do it in these cost cutting times remains to be seen.

I will publish the Peter James review that "was too dangerous for the Melbourne Age" on the blog. I'll stick it up sometime in April I think.

I'll post a review on Audible when I've finished it. I'm about 2.5 hours into it and probably will finish in a few days.

Its nice that you're going to listen to the actual book. If you were a professional reviewer of my acquaintance (actually several - this is a composite character) you wouldnt bother reading or listening to the book before compiling your review. Which is why I think the reviews of the people who actually pay to see the film or read the book are sometimes worth a lot more than the so called professionals.

Of course I'll take all this back if you give me 1 star.

My rating/review of books is very personal. It's all about what I like and don't like. For instance, I gave up on Wolf Hall about halfway into it. I'm sure that there's a lot to recommend about Wolf Hall, but whatever that may be, it's not for me.

I agree with Seana, give it a bit and plug it again. A few more give a ways wouldn't hurt either ;)

My copy hasn't arrived yet. If it doesn't come in the next few days I'll go down to the post office and start taking hostages.

seana said...

That would be a great publicity stunt, Matt. It's too bad that you will probably end up dead or in prison, but sometimes we have to make sacrifices.

The book is not yet available in the US. So bummed.

DJD said...

I don't want to wait for it to come out on Kindle in the US so I ordered a real copy from Amazon UK. It wont be here till April but I'll gladly review it once I've read it. I'm certainly looking forward to it.

I've posted reviews on Audible, Amazon and LibraryThing. I'm the ONLY member in LibraryThing to list Falling Glass. Do none of this blog's regulars use LibraryThing?

Thanks for that buddy, I appreciate it.

I have to say I am little disappointed by the number of reviews. 117 followers it says but only half a dozen reviews in total? Still what can I do? It seems pathetic to beg doesnt it?

Anyway I REALLY appreciate it.

Adrian:

You're welcome!

I did really enjoy the book and was very entertained by it.

Your books, to me, take the thriller/crime fiction genre to a level that is better than authors such as Lee Child or Joseph Finder (and, of course, Dan Brown, blech). And, better than Steig Larsson whose books are very entertaining. Your books include views and comments that go beyond the story. I find that makes your books more interesting and more worthwhile.

Keep up the good work!!

I'll try to. I dont aspire to write the Great American Novel or even the Great Irish Novel, but I do LOVE crime fiction and it is my ambition to do the best crime novel I can possibly do.

Adrian, apparently a large part of your following can't even get the book right now. You're going to have to give America some time.
