A big thank you to everyone who voted for Falling Glass as it's been awarded the Crime Always Pays, Irish crime novel of the year. As Declan Burke explains on his blog it was a bumper year for Irish crime fiction and certainly any of the terrific books in the category could have won. I think as a novel Falling Glass slipped between the cracks a little bit. It got good reviews in The Guardian, The Irish Times, The Irish Independent etc. etc. but it didn't really set the world on fire. To do that I suppose you need the right zeitgeist and a little bit of luck. Still it's been the little engine that could and I'm very happy to take the CAP Irish crime novel of the year award. As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago the audiobook version has already been picked as Audible's Best Mystery or Thriller for 2011.
...
Falling Glass is out in mass market paperback in the UK and Ireland in a fortnight and it'll be out in mass market in Australia and NZ soon after that. The cool looking German version will be out in April 2012. There is no US version, alas, because (to quote a well known US publishing house) its not commercial enough. Thank you very much to everyone who voted for me or reviewed Falling Glass online, I really appreciate it.

Well done Adrian, and rightly deserved. Looking forward to The Cold, Cold Ground.
Roy
I have a feeling you'll like it.
I haven't got round to FALLING GLASS yet, but I've read COLD COLD GROUND and it's seriously good. I'll be posting a review on Amazon UK when it 'goes live'.
Congrats on the CAP win.
If you ever want to discuss Snubnose Press bringing ebook versions to the US for the books that don't have US publishers I'm only an email away.
Adrian,
If Falling Glass is available through The Book Dep. I'm getting it, along with A Rage for Order. Did you interview Traveller families for Falling Glass, have you seen the movie Paveen, and was it a challenge to interview different people for Cold, Cold Ground? (I would've been scared.)
Congratulations and Merry Christmas! Any swag attached to the victory?
Mike
Glad you liked Cold Cold.
Brian
The problem is that I dont own the rights. Serpents Tail do.
Kate
Yup its available through Book Dep or Amazon UK.
I did a lot of research for Falling Glass, a little less for Cold Cold because it takes place on the street where I grew up and thats fresh in my memory.
Cary
I certainly hope so! Merry Christmas to you too.
Well deserved and we fans in the US are thankful for Audible!
So a company, presumably Serpents Tail, owns the US rights (including E rights) but won't at the very least make an ebook version available in the states?
On Twitter a few months ago I asked one of the editors of Dark Horse if one of their titles would be available soon for the Kindle. Her response was that they didn't have any plans for epubbing at that time or in the works.
One can only imagine the amount of money that these damn fool publishers are leaving on the table.
If I worked for a big publisher I would be making it a priority to get the back list out in E form asap.
Brian
Do you understand publishing? Because I dont. I just dont get the logic behind many/most decisions that publishers make.
Jean
If it wasn't for Audible I'd be toast.
Congrats, sir!
Thumbs up!
Congrats! Can't wait to read it!

I think what you needed was .1% of the marketing budget of the American movie version of Girl w/Tattoo. I can't escape the blasted thing. It's everywhere.
Congratulations. The fans have spoken.
Wonderful book, Adrian! I listened to the Audible version, sharing the story with my family all the way through it. We were asked to talk about something great we had read at our library staff meeting, and I raved about Falling Glass. I want to get it in book form because my husband wants to read it now. Do I need to order from the UK to get it?
Patty
Alas yes. It will have to come from the UK. No one, sob, wants to publish it in the US.
